What a HOT week

It has been in the high 90s for the past week and there is no sign that it's going down anytime soon. Sigh!  It's miserable to be outside because the humidity is high and the heat index is above 100 most days.  Miserable.

June 13th:  This is what Sterling thinks of the hot weather.  We go to the trails around 9 when we go out, so it's already in the mid 80s when we get then.  She's not happy to get sweaty.

While we were at the lake, the landscapers were working on the front landscaping.  It looks so much better.  Now we just need to replace the pathway lighting.  I just can't find the same lights as they already have though.

June 14th:  Xander got a haircut

And he drew batman.  He was so proud to sound out batman and writing it on his paper.  He needed me to send a picture to Nana and Papa right away.  He's a great artist!

June 15th:  Did this day really exist?  The only thing I remember doing is shredding a bunch of paper.  Fun times when you're getting ready to move!

June 16th:  Xander needed cavities filled.  His dentist let me know that he's going to be cavity prone.  Joy!

We also booked a Disney cruise!!  Oh my gosh, I'm just SO excited (and nervous)!

June 17th:  At the trail and this girl rocked it the last mile

We waited for the UV index to get to 7 and then headed to the splash pad.

And then we all took showers and had a movie night and watched Zootopia (but first a silly picture is a must!).  Such a cute movie.  Sterling thought it was too scary because there was naughty people in the movie, but it was cute!

Hoping this heat will mellow out a bit, but it's not anywhere in sight.  Boo!  Only a month to go and the movers will be here packing up our stuff.  We're ready.  At least the weather there has only been in the 80s, ha!  I'm also finally excited about the torturous drive (18.5 hours) because I convinced my mom to come and keep me company (and drive, ha!).

Easy week

The second week of June proved be easy and relaxing.  We worked out, took many walks, learned to ride bigger bikes, celebrated new love, and had fun!  What better way to spend summer days?!

June 7th:  It was such an awesome day that I don't have any pictures or memories of it, ha!

June 8th: Sterling likes playing with my hair and was giving me an awesome style.

June 9th:  We headed to the circle trail to ride big kid bikes since we were getting rid of their 12 inch bikes.  We're trying to teach them rules of riding bikes, but also rules of riding bikes on trails and respecting others on the trials.  Sterling gets frustrated on her bike quickly and rides super slow.

June 10th:  Out at the lake and Xander wrote his bike the whole time.  Except when Nick showed him how to stand up on it while riding, ha!

June 11th:  I was heading up to MN for my cousins bridal shower, by myself, and Xander needed a picture of us before I left.  So I wouldn't forget him.  He's a pretty funny boy!

As I was heading out the door, Sterling was not happy and Nick convinced me to take her with me.  There was a slight problem that the back of the car was packed with baby stuff my my cousins.  I couldn't rearrange the car to get her in, so we searched the internet for laws about children riding in the front seat.  It was totally legal as long as she was in her booster.  So, that's where she rode and she loved it.  As soon as the car was unloaded she was right back in the back and she was not happy!

After arriving and unloading a few things from the van, my cousins and aunts headed out to Okoboji for my cousins bachelorette party.  First up was a painting event.  I've always wanted to do one and it was so much fun.  I'd do it again!  We made two birds in a tree with a heart.  I decided to put the year Nick and I were married.  After the painting, we headed to dinner, then a bar.  Such a fun night with my family.

June 12th:  My cousins bridal shower.  Sterling has her own style and she's not one to try to convince otherwise.  I just had to laugh at this outfit.  She reminded me of a child of the 80s with her bright colors.

My cousin getting married is the one standing in the middle.  She's the sweetest girl, and I'm excited for her to start her own family.  She lives on a ranch in Wyoming and loves horses.  I wish we could make it to her wedding, but it's two weeks after we move, so it just won't work out.  So, I was glad I was able to go to this and celebrate with her early.

Sterling and I arrived back home Sunday night around 9 and she fell asleep quick!  It was a fun week, but I had the most fun over the weekend :)  I'm going to miss time with family since I won't be able to go as easily.

Summer fun

June is flying by!  It's already the 19th and I haven't posted any updates in June.  Sad.

June 1st:   We received their new booster seats in the mail so the boxes became instant toys, which became rocket ships.  They played in these boxes ALL afternoon!

June 2nd:  We started our day with our morning walk at the lake.  After the kids went to take their breaks, I headed to the basement to start taking pictures of all the baby stuff we are getting rid of before the move.

June 3rd:  We had a busy day.  We started out with swimming in the pool because it's SO hot here in NE.  This heat is ridiculous.  The kids didn't play long because they hate the bugs.  I like to remind them that bugs live outside and they are outside so they will encounter bugs.  A few days ago, I sprayed the yard with bug spray so hopefully they'll want to go back out and play.

The neighbors new dog came out and Xander sat and played with her for an hour!

Because it was a windy day, we headed to open field to fly kites

And run through the splash pad that was not planned, so they went with their clothes on and drove home naked, ha!

June 4th:  Sterling's friend had a birthday party and she was invited.  We had to take Bubba along because Nick was sleeping, but they had fun!  And the birthday family was so sweet and included Bubba in the festivities.

June 5th:  We went to the circus!  We surprised the kids with this one and they LOVED it!

June 6th:  Xander drew a clown because he suddenly loves clowns.  Until two nights later when he had a dream that a clown pinched his cheeks.  Ha!  Now his clown lives in the closet.  Those darn dreams always ruin everything.

We also spent some time down in the basement working out (and dressing up, ha!).  She said she was a ballerina kitty-cat!

Of course batman too

That's our first week of fun in June.

May Recap

Hello, June.  You came quick.

This post is going to contain an excessive amount of pictures.  #sorrynotsorry

Wow.  What a busy and quick month May was! We had muffins for moms twice.  Mother's Day. Ballet practice and recital. Last day of PDO.  Last day of work.  Last day of school.  Graduation night.  Birthday fun. Weekend getaway to visit family in MN.  It's been busy.  Fun. Wild. Loud. Exciting.  I'm ready for June!

On the 5th, 6th, and 8th I was showered with love from the kiddos.

On the 13, 15th and 17th Sterling performed on stage for her ballet recital.  She rocked it!

On the 14th, we went to my brothers graduation.  He's now an oral surgeon.  On the way back to the van, Xander saw a fire hydrant and had to pose.

I also wore my new Apple watch (an early birthday present) for the first time.  I HATE watches, but I LOVE this and have worn it every day but 2.  It's so comfortable and I love all the functions.

Xander had graduation

Sterling's last day of school.

Here she's taking her last rest time at PDO.

I also grabbed a coffee from my favorite coffee shop

Xander's last day of school.  Sterling and I decided to head to the park to take our time away while Bubs was enjoying his last day with his friends and teachers.

I made homemade play-doh for my classroom.  It smelled so good.  I used the Kool-Aid recipe on Pinterest.

Sterling has a nervous tick and it drives me crazy. She bites her nails and her skin around them.  Drives me bonkers! So I went and bought the nasty stuff to make her stop. This was her reaction.  She's not a fan!

We've had a few game nights and this fish game was always a favorite

Sterling was angry about something, throwing a fit.  I grabbed the camera to document her not being happy.  It backfired. She flashed a smile like no other!  She was quick!

Four days after school ended, Sterling ended up getting sick. Perfect timing, little one!

We've been exercising like crazy over here.  And getting too close to the geese!

Happy Birthday to me!  We had a great day celebrating.  We exercised in the morning then got freshened up to head out.  Went to lunch at Kona Grill.  Went to Scheels and rode the Ferris Wheel.  Grabbed Small Cakes cupcakes on the way home (did you know you get a FREE birthday cupcake on your birthday?!)  I didn't until that day. Lucky me.  For dinner I wanted to make homemade pizza, but decided I didn't want to cook on my birthday, so we ordered pizza in.  Xander let me know this was my best birthday, ever!

My aunt wanted an embroidered shirt for her grand-baby, so I made one for her.  I really wanted the Minnie mouse one to turn out, but the designer of the file didn't do a great job on the satin finish file.  So I went and found a new file to make and it turned out awesome!

Friday after grabbing chick fil a for lunch, we headed on the road to MN. My parents went up for the week, so we wanted to see them and the rest of the family.  We had a great time.

After visiting for a little bit, we headed out to the races.  I wanted to take Xander last year, but never had the chance.  So I was excited to take him. I grew up going every weekend during the summer and I was sure he'd love them too.  He did fine, until it was past his bedtime and the dirt started flying. Now I know.

He was cold so papa and naan shared their blanket

The next morning I promised they could swim.  They ended up swimming for over two hours!

We headed back to the farm after lunch. They took a ride in the back of the pickup.

Love this picture!  Three generations of grandpas.  We are always calling Xander a grandpa because of his demeanor, so Nick wanted me to make sure to get this picture.

Before heading back home, we grabbed some pictures with Jax.  These two monkeys were so excited to play with him all weekend.  So glad we were able see them!

The ride home is torture

On Monday it was hot so I set up the pool and we spent two hours outside.  Then the storm came.  I enjoyed a good book and green tea while the kids swam.  Win, win!

A sight I never thought I'd see. Xander pouring water over his head.  He was so funny.  He said, "mom, why didn't I think of this sooner?!"

That's a wrap, May!  All caught up until next time.
