Edelweiss Lodge and Resort

Over the weekend we stayed at the resort and enjoyed the scenery that was all around.  It was beautiful.  It was also FREEZING cold out!!  Because it was SO cold, it really limited what we could do.  We had so many plans and I'd say they all fell through.  Oh well.  Because of the cold, we didn't get many pictures.  I didn't want to keep my hands uncovered, so we took a few and called it good.  We mostly took pictures before we left each day.

We got there Thursday afternoon and let the kids run around the ginormous hotel.  I taught Xander how to jump on hotel beds, ha!  Although that wasn't a great idea because when we got home, he thought he could jump on our bed...not good.

checking out the location and things to do

Friday morning we left the hotel around 11 to walk around the village of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and find a nice trail.  As we left the village to head to a trail, it was cold!  My legs were burning, later found out they were chapped, so if I was freezing, then the kids must be too.

handsome little man...i joked this day (Friday) that he was attending a child conference, ha!

this is how the kids rode 95% of the time, we only stayed out for 3 hours because it was a cold, cold!  Only 14 degrees.  Brrr!!!

Sterling in the process of getting ready.  This girl does NOT know how to sit still for anything.  It takes forever getting her ready as it's a constant battle

Xander was a pretty happy kid this weekend.  I told him to say pickle, and he cracked up every time.  Love!

ready to leave

done sitting still

so big!

this boy sure knows how to put a smile on my face and warms my heart!  Love him!

Saturday morning we woke up and could see the mountains.  We switched our plans of going to Munich for the day and stayed at the resort to go out for a scenic walk.  I'm glad we did, this was my favorite day!  It was still cold, only 14 degrees again, but we were out for 6 hours!  The sun was shining this day and made it feel a little warmer.  And, we dressed the kids in 2 layers of pants, so i felt better about staying out and enjoying the day

we wanted to walk to this beautiful mountain

Xander was twerping out in the stroller so Nick put him on his shoulders.  Xander loved it and stayed like that for over an hour

taking it all in

they had skiing competitions going on so we watched from a distance.  Xander loved the big yellow balloon, repeating it over and over and over

this little midgey decided she was tired Sunday morning and didn't want to get up to go home.

Our drive home was rough.  The roads were terrible.  We ran out of washer fluid about 45 minutes after leaving the resort.  We stopped at the first gas station to pick up some fluid and everyone else was doing the same thing!  That gas station was packed!  1 liter of fluid was 5 Euro, which is about 7 dollars.  The 5 gallon was 22 Euro.  Can you say overpriced!  But we needed it and I bought 1 liter and used it sparingly.  It took 2 hours to go 70 miles.  It goes on and on.  We finally made it home after 6 hours.  The drive was beautiful though!  I told Nick that even though all of our plans were ruined by the weather, the drive was worth it all.  On Friday I joked that this tripped felt like our Paris trip.  Nothing going as planned or hoped for.  I guess we just pick the wrong times to go on trips?

And there you have it my friends, our little vacation.  And now on to planning our move.

Have a great day!

Love and frustrations

I'm not totally sure where I'm going with this post, so it's probably going to be all over the place.

Last night I decided to take a peak inside Xander's mouth and was very surprised when I saw his 3 year molar already in!  His bottom right is fully in and the one on the left is just starting to break through.  The reason I decided to take a peak was because 2 nights ago he felt warm and I took his temp and it was at 100.2.  Low, but nonetheless, still a temp.  I'm thinking this is the reason for his fevers lately?  I couldn't believe the one was already all the way in!  That means, he's been one very tough boy.  Although cranky and not sleeping well at night this week, still tough.  I have him the teething tablets last night and he slept through the night.  Amazing what a little tablet can do.  Took all his discomfort away.  I will be forever thankful for Hyland's teething tablets, haha!

Mr. Tough Guy taking his shoes off

So today the kids and I went out to wash my car.  It was dirty.  Still needs vacuumed , but it's too cold for me to do all that so that's gotta wait for the man of the house.  When we got back I grabbed a few pictures to show one of Sterling's Valentines shirts I made for her.

This is what happens when I tell Xander to hold sissy in place so we can get a picture.  Sissy wants nothing to do with sitting still and attacks him.  Poor Xander.  He still loves her though!

She gets mad!

Finally somewhat decent

Sibling love...although some little girl was not interested in laying still.

We then ate lunch and now they're napping.
When they wake up I'm going to take them out on a walk.  I'll have to bundle them up with blankets, but I have to get out.  I've just become so distant and not caring anymore.  Maybe it's the winter blues?  Is that what it's called?  I need to do better for myself and my family.
Life here is so inconvenient and I keep making excuses.  I admit, I'm spoiled and like everyday conveniences.  It makes doing things so much easier.  I HATE apartment living, will never do it again, unless we're on bottom floor...maybe, just maybe.  It would be so much easier to get out and do things if I didn't have to take the kids down to the storage room, undo the stroller, load them in, try to lift the heavy a$$ stroller (side by side one) up the 8 steps just to go out and enjoy our day.  It makes me not want to go out, and usually will talk myself out of it.   So today, I'm going to use the front to back stroller.  It's in the back of the car so I'll set the kids on the ground and hope they don't try to escape since our parking spot is on the road.  Not safe at all with little ones!  I'll take the blankets, water, diapers, and gloves all down before we start our daily adventure.  Then when I put them in the stroller I have to pray that they don't make a fuss and start acting crazy.  Like arching backs, screaming like they're being murdered, just plain ole crazy!  Normally I wouldn't care if they act a fool, but last summer/fall there were child abductions here and I don't want people to think I'm kidnapping my own kids!  The neighborhood watch team would call the cops, then the cops would come and how embarrassing would that be!!!  It would seriously make me to never go out again.  Maybe I think too much into all this?  I just have to find a system that will work for the life inconveniences while living here with toddlers.
Because it's cold and that's usually my excuse to go out for a walk (because of the good old Raynauds), Nick often suggests going for a walk inside the mall.  People in the states do that.  But here, I'd probably get looked at pretty funny.  And the kids, they're not going to sit still and be quiet indoors.  Outdoors, they're usually fine when we're moving, but inside...yeah right!  Good suggestion hun, but no thanks!

We're so ready to find out where we're moving next.  Nick dreamt it was the DC area, I dreamt it was GA.  Is it going to be the midwest?  East?  South?  Hopefully NOT the west!  I think I'm hoping for the south.  As weird as that sounds, I'm ready for some warm weather.  Like Florida!?!  I'd take the east too.  For the most part they are pretty warm.  I loved living in VA and would LOVE to go back.  We'd be close to my parents and Xander's birth mom.  That would be awesome!  In the south we'd be close to Nick's family.  Midwest we'd be close to all my extended family, aunts, uncles, cousins, 4 of my siblings, nieces and nephews.  So, which ever of these 3 areas the Air Force decides to send us, we'll have family around.  Love it!  We're ready Air Force, just let us know already!!!  We'll know by the 28th so only a few more days (weeks).

And there you have my frustrations for the week.  They're so bad that I have a massive headache day after day...ugh!

Have a great day!

Lately...

We picked up our new car on Tuesday afternoon.  It's so nice having 2 cars again!  Although, I still prefer NOT going to the store with kids in tow so we pretty much still stay home.  But, the option is there if I forgot something and need it for dinner.  So, that's nice.  Picture to come later, after we wash it.  Yes, it's already filthy.

School's started back up for me.  Did I mention that I switched my programs?  I'm now in the Masters for Health Care Administration.  I think I will enjoy it more and have much more opportunities in the future.

I went to get the camera tonight so I could post pictures of the 2 shirts I appliqued for Sterling Friday afternoon and I guess I forgot to take the picture.  So, I'll post the pictures on Wednesday and Thursday when she will be wearing the shirts.  Let's hope she'll sit up or stand up so I can get the picture, rather than lunging at me.
So, now, you'll get to see some random pictures from Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and today...

playing peek-a-boo with Xander's blanket

Not sure what's so funny, but it's a rarity when I can snap a picture of him without him hiding his face, so this picture puts a smile on my face :)

On Thursday we were suppose to go meet Nick at the local mall for lunch but he backed out...which is nothing out of the norm, but is still disappointing

On Friday, Xander was our "Franken-hugs".  Every day lately he walks around with his arms in the air, like Frankenstein, looking to give hugs

Sterling even got one :)

This picture is actually from today.  It's a new dress, but really a tunic on her.  It's a size 18-24 months.  She definitely couldn't wear it as a dress as her butt would never be covered.  Who knew my almost 11 month old would be in 18-24 months going on 2t's already?  Not I!!!  She's SO big.  She weighs 26 pounds, but feels like 35!  Solid baby.

We're going to try to make a play date this week with our friends.  They've been sick for the past 2 weeks so hopefully they are all better and no bugs are lingering.  I could use some adult conversation and the kids could use some constructive interaction and social play.

Have a great day!

Cuddles

This morning Sterling woke up about 2 hours earlier than normal. She's SO happy and cuddly this morning. Sweet baby!
I had to show a picture of how she takes the remote and points it to the tv. Smart baby!

Applique

I think I mentioned on Saturday my friend and I went to a mall near us and found a bunch of blanks for applique projects?  Well today we put a few of the items to use.  My friend and her 3 kids came over for a few hours so we could get to work.

These are all of Sterling's finds on Saturday

This stash is for Xander.  He also got a new coat for spring, but since it's not part of the project it wasn't included in the picture.  On a sad note, the gray and black stripped shirt was ruined when I pre-washed all the stuff.  The red fabric ran on his poor shirt!

And now for today...

We were hard at work on these two items

And then when her crew left I decided to practice using the monogram stitching and found what 2 of the filler meant, ha!

Then while I was cleaning up from dinner I noticed it was rather quiet so I go check on the kids and they are strapped in their car seats watching team umizoomi...gotta love a father that's trying to do other things.   At least they're safely strapped in...in the house, ha!!

Fun side note to add...tomorrow we get to pick up our new car!  Oh how i'm so excited to have my car back.  Although Nick thinks he gets to keep the Volvo because he says men are supposed to have the bigger vehicles and the ladies have the cars.  I think he has it all wrong!

Have a great day!

Feverish

Today I had a great day.  I was able to go to a mall about a half hour from home, with my friend and her oldest daughter, and found some blank shirts for the kids to start doing some applique projects.  I was super excited that they had the ruffle sleeve and trim for the girls shirts.  That was exactly what I wanted and didn't think i'd find such cuteness over here.
I'll have to take a pic of all that I bought...probably way too much, but I'll keep busy for awhile now.
When I got home I noticed Xander was flushed.  Didn't think anything serious.  Just thought maybe he was crying all day.  You all know, daddy is tougher on the kiddos...lol.  As I was putting his pajamas on I noticed he was hot so I took his temperature.  It was 103.7 in the left ear and 103.6 in the right.  That's high...imo!  The highest I've seen was when Sterling has the flu and hers was at 101.  I guess 103 and higher is serious.  But, this is where it gets tricky.  He does not have any other noticeable symptoms.  I gave him some Tylenol and 30 minutes later his left ear is down to 102.7 and his right ear is the same, 103.6.  Because he's not displaying other symptoms we're going to have him sleep with us so we can keep an eye/ear on him in case symptoms pop up in the middle of the night.  If the fever is not down in the morning we will take him to the ER.  Now, we just have to pray that it's nothing serious.  I will have to go to the pharmacy tomorrow to get more Tylenol  but if it gets him better, it's okay!

Update:  0130 he woke up, wide awake.  I took his temp and his left ear is 102.5 and right is 101.7.  We're going down!  I have him more Tylenol.  Still not sure where this fever stemmed from, no other symptoms yet.  He's having some crackers and drank some water,  watching team umizoomi.  I'm going to put him in his bed after his snack since he's sleeping fine and his temperature is going down.  I'm thinking he's going to have the flu though.  His stomach keeps making noises?

Have a great weekend!
