Dec 2008: Adoption put on hold because of military deployment until Mar 2010
June 8, 2010: Completed the forms for state background and child abuse registry checks, got fingerprinted for FBI clearance
June 16, 2010: Formal application approved
July 16, 2010: Met with social worker to go over papers/documents before the move
July 29, 2010: Moved to Europe
Sept 27, 2010: Switched international social workers for homestudy and post placement
Oct 1, 2010: Received forms for home study to fill out
Oct 5, 2010: Home study visit, signed papers, paid fee
Oct 6, 2010: What I did: received SD CPS form for background clearance, mailed Social Security Statement requests, did PA state clearance, copied marriage certificate, passport, birth certificate, and
past 3 years of tax return.
Oct 6, 2010: Agency in VA sent in the FBI clearance and ND state clearance requests
Oct 10, 2010: Sent out the 3 reference letter requests; completed 2 hours adoption education
Oct 12, 2010: Had TB test/HIV blood draw/Urine Drug test done, picked up a copy of medical insurance coverage; completed 2 hours adoption education
Oct 14, 2010: Had TB test read, got financial statement and SD CPS forms notarized, picked up forms for Family Advocacy, and mailed SD CPS forms
Oct 22, 2010: Have letter from employer in hand
Oct 27, 2010: Completed all adoption education; mailed packet to VA; notified FBI clearances are in; notified ND CPS are in
Oct 28, 2010: Gave agency in Germany home study documents
Oct 29, 2010: Received our Chaplain reference
Nov 1, 2010: Received SD child abuse registry clearance
Nov 2, 2010: hubby's medical appt
Nov 2, 2010: mailed SD CPS clearance to BCS
Nov 3, 2010: mailed hubby's medical exam report to BCS
Nov 15, 2010: received hubby's SS statement
Dec 17, 2010: Visit #3 with social worker. Put packet togther to be mailed to AA in PA
Dec 20, 2010: Express mailed packet to PA
Dec 27, 2010: Home Study approved by Adopt Abroad (YAH!!!!)
Jan 24, 2011: Redo of VA CPS form, had them notarized also
Feb 1, 2011: Fingerprints re-done; mailed fingerprints and VA CPS forms to BCS by express mail
Feb 28, 2011: Home study approved...OFFICIALLY WAITING for referral!!!!!
Mar 17, 2011: Referral and CHOSEN!!!
Mar 22, 2011: Skyped with birth mom
Mar 29, 2011: Flew to Virginia
Mar 31, 2011: Met birth mom
Apr 2, 2011: Alexander Michael is born and placed in my arms
Apr 4, 2011: Left hospital with Alexander (considered foster care placement)
Apr 11, 2011: social worker visit for foster care visit
May 10, 2011: signed placement papers; 1st post placement visit
May 11, 2011: passport appointment, failed, go again on 17th
May 17, 2011: received passport
May 19, 2011: flew home to Germany
July 1, 2011: 2nd post placement visit
Sept 23, 2011: Last post placement visit
Nov 4, 2011: Finalization process started with attorney
Dec 23, 2011: Attorney had to change heading on petition per the judge, need renotarize/resend petition to attorney
Dec 27, 2011: Had petition renotarized/mailed petition to attorney
Mar 2, 2012: Final order received at adoption agency, adoption is complete!
Apr 7, 2012: Received 2 original copies of new birth certificates
