Hello, hello! This is a post that I've been wanting to write for months. To share the adventures along the way. But I couldn't at the time. I can now freely share our excitement {and disappointments, ha!} along the way. And I'm so excited ☺️
A year ago, it was a possibility that we could be moving this summer. So we started casually house hunting. We checked out areas in NC, GA, and MO. We started with NC. We searched all over the state on a few different trips, but just didn't find an area/home we loved. We were back and forth in different areas of GA as well. Again, we just couldn't find an area/home that we fell in love with. Kansas City, MO was my favorite! Nick and I visited it right after our NYC trip and I loved it. In December we started planning to build a home there. I was so excited. After a month of dreaming of life in MO, it just wasn't realistic. I was devastated!
I fell in love with the simplicity of this house in Kansas City. I still love it. The home was on the smaller side, only 2800 sq ft, but I was in heaven.
Nick is still in the military. He's getting ready to take a long tour and this is what really brought up the opportunity to find our forever home. Moving over to MO wouldn't give us the opportunity after Nick's tour to have him around. And, we didn't want that. When he returns, he'll be back in NOVA. After months of going back and forth between GA and NC, we FOUND our forever home! We found it, ah! The problem with a lot of the homes we looked at was the area. We'd find great homes, everything we'd want, but the areas were crappy. Ugh!
This is a home that we loved in Charlotte, NC. We didn't love the neighborhood though.
Here's a home we absolutely loved in Atlanta, GA. This home was perfect. Everything we wanted and a lot of square feet. This builder seemed to only be building in shady areas. As much as I kept trying to find an area in GA where this house could be build, it just wasn't working.
We went to NC during spring break, and I was skeptical. The first two days of searching we couldn't even find the type of house we wanted, let alone a good neighborhood. While the kids were swimming in the hotel pool the second night, I was scouring Realtor for new homes. I came across two, but didn't tell Nick. Well two hours later, Nick was searching Realtor and came across the same two homes! It was a sign, right? 😂 Nick decided to contact a realtor so we could tour the homes the next day.
Upon entering the neighborhood for the first home, we were already loving it. The home was everything we wanted. We stood in the kitchen and just looked at each other. They say you just know, and we did! We had our agent take us to the clubhouse and again, it was perfect. So much to offer for the whole family. We're so excited for our new life in North Carolina. So many opportunities and adventures await. I can't wait!
And this will be my new kitchen. TRA-LA-LAAA!
We've had two movers in to give us quotes, and in preparation for the big final move, we've been purging. Big time purging! One thing I know for sure is I don't want our new home to feel cluttered and overwhelmed. So, stuff must go!
We're excited to get moved and settled. Make new friends. And start new activities. It'll be nice to not move again! Ah.
Six weeks to go!
