New Year, New Goals

Happy New Year, friends!  I hope 2018 treated you well.  2018 was a fun, yet challenging year for us.    We started our year house hunting, which continued from 2017.  We finally found the perfect home and neighborhood for us and moved in June.  Our family was separated more months than not because of all the training Nick had to do with the Air Force.  This proved to be more challenging than we imagined.  We're pretty thankful that we are able to talk to him almost every day.  We even get to see him for about 5 seconds on those days before our connection is lost.  A little time is better than no time.

I'm not one to make resolutions or goals.  I like to fly by the seat of my pants.  This year though, I've decided that I need to have more of a routine.  Coming off a pretty stressful year, some medical issues, and feeling like my head's going to blow up more times than I can count.  I'm ready to create a schedule and write out my yearly goals.  This will be new for me.  I hate lists.  Despise them, actually.  But, I need to do this.

Here are some things I want to be better at this year.

In order to be successful, I feel you need to know your 'why' to what you are trying to achieving.  If you don't know your 'why' what are you doing it for?  Is it possible to be successful without knowing?

1.  Self-care.  I've put myself on the back burner for the past few years and I have to start making myself a priority.  For my health and sanity.  For my happiness.  For success.
2.  Declutter.  Why must clutter add so much stress?  We downsized when we moved and I feel like we still need to get rid of a whole room worth of stuff.  Stuff is making me crazy!
3.  Read more.  It helps reduce stress and can be pretty fun.  I like to read self-help type books so they're educational also.
4.  Play more with the kids.  I don't do this enough and the kids really would like it.  I'm always giving them ideas on how to play, but I need to start getting involved during their play time.  Not just during games.  Cause, I'll jump at playing a game, but playing dolls or wrestling?  I'd rather sit out. Sigh.
5.  Delegate.  I simply can't do it all.  I'd rather do it all, but it's impossible right now.  I'll have to learn patience a lot during this time, but hopefully in the long run, it'll be worth it.
6.  Exercise.  It makes me happy.  I don't do it nearly enough, but when I do exercise, my day is so much better.  Back in October, we started making healthier choices, and we definitely want to continue it this year.  Happy  Healthy.  Confident.
7.  Drink more water.  It's good for you.  Plain and simple.  I'd rather have a soda.  Come on, it's so much tastier.  But, water it will be because it's better for me.
8.  Meal plan.  We can't eat cereal every night.  Meal planning will bring healthier foods into our meals and usually tastes better than take-out.
9.  Less time on gadgets.  I spend way too much time gadgets.  Maybe I can use this time to do things I enjoy.  Like painting ceramic bisque or canvas'.  Or going to be early!?
10.  Plan lessons in advance.  When I plan school lessons in advance, our days go smoother.  Some weeks I'd wing it, but I'm going to try harder to get ahead by at least a week.  I want to try doing 6 weeks on, 1 week off schedule of learning.  On the off week is when I'd plan lessons and catch up on housework that may get pushed aside.  Like windows and blinds, ha!

Now that I know my 'why's', I think this year can be full of fun memories.

My motto:
Focus on the important things and try your best!
