First Day of Pre-K

Way back on Sept 6th (second child problems), Sterling started pre-k.  We decided to put her in a program and I'll still work with her at home also.  We felt she needed the socialization because of her speech.  Being around different people gets her speaking more and not having us speak for her.  She goes 4 days a week and it works out well.

So I pulled out the big camera for of her pictures.  I LOVE her personality and how she shined as she did her thing.  She loves to pose!  This year her back to school outfit was from Gap.  Minus the headband (that doesn't match, but not worth a battle).

After getting home from dropping Bubba off at school, she enjoyed riding her bike...until she fell off.

Fun Facts about this beauty

A little head tilt always makes a photo better.  Right?!

Her little hand motion.  She's always posing!  Or maybe she's just always moving?!  Either way, I love her.

She has 24 new friends in her class this year.  24!  That just seems like so many to me in one classroom.  And her classroom is not all that large.  I'm amazed at how they can move around and dance.  And she's coming home with homework.  How crazy.  Pre-k.  Homework?!!  I love it!

Fact.

She had a great first day!  She only complained about the other kids.  They're not nice.  They follow me around.  They said my name is a boy name.  They don't say my name right.  The list continues every day.  I just can't believe how mean kids can be at such young ages.  Do parents not teach their kids to respect others?!

After getting both kids from pickups, they played outside for awhile.  Pickups start at 3 (I have to leave at 230) and we get home at 345.

So much personality in such a little girl!

Have a great day!

Tuesday Tidbits

Schools kicking my butt this semester!  I've redone one assignment four times!  Still waiting to see if I'll be doing a fifth.  Did you know there are predatory open access publishing?!  Me either.  I use my schools online Library to search for my articles to review and do I have bad luck at selecting them.  Even the school library had a few non high quality journals, and I happened to find them.  What luck!  Now I'm triple checking all my articles and so far I've found 6 good ones.  I need to find 9 more by tomorrow for another assignment.  Oy vey!  I'm not giving up though!

Last week I was on a knock knock joke kick and my favorite was:
Knock knock
who's there
Nemo
Nemo who
Nemo coffee

So of course we had to go get coffees

We discovered a turtle in our backyard one morning.  Haven't seen it since though so I wonder where the thing went?  And how did it get past the fence to get in our yard?  I think maybe someone dropped it in.  But for what reason?!

Sterling loves hosting family tea parties

Last week Sterling had a speech evaluation.  She did great, but will be needing additional help, just as we expected.  We're waiting to hear more next week.

I've been trying to get into the groove of working out again.  It's been working out great to hit the basement after dropping Xander off.  Sterling was excited too.

The next day she wasn't as excited, so she watched Masha and the Bear.  Such a cute show!

We're also enjoying our cooler mornings and going outside after working out.

Our favorite fall treat.  Candy corn + peanuts.  Tastes just like a salted nut roll.  Swoon!

My sister has been wanting me to go to Peets Coffee shop, so Sterling and I headed there Friday.  So good (if you like stronger coffee), we'll be back.

On Saturday the kids started their fall sports.  Xander chose soccer.

Sterling chose gymnastics.  She was nervous she was going to hurt herself, so we reassured her that her teachers will be helping her.  She did great.  But, I don't think we'll do it again.  We'll see.

I found Xander plopped down in the chair over the weekend.  He was "reading."  Or, looking for sight words.  He always chooses this book to read (Tom Sawyer).  Always.

Yesterday I had planned to keep Sterling home from school because we had a maintenance man coming and the time range was 5 hours.  So we worked on school at home and she loved it.  They're working on the letter A and apples at school, so we did too.  About an hour before her school would've started, they called and said school was cancelled because of flooding.  We had a lot of rain yesterday.  So our day worked out perfectly!

Have a great day!

Lately

At the beginning of last week, my computer decided it wouldn't connect to Wifi so I couldn't do anything.  It was rather frustrating especially since I was on a roll with keeping the blog up-to-date and I had homework to work on.  I have the worst luck with laptops (and external hard drives)!  Anyways, I'm back up and running on a new Mac.

These two are my favorite!  They are best friends.  They love playing with each other.  And they drive each other crazy.  What a good combination.

While Xander's in school, Sterling and I like to take a dip in the hot tub...or hot pool as Sterling calls it, ha!  We have it turned down right now so it just feels like a cool swimming pool.  Perfect for summer days.

Stress.  I hate it.  But it's a part of my daily life.  I had this big ole target forming on my face and Sterling was the only person who understood what I was talking about when I'd ask "do you like my target", ha!

We drive up to get Bubs before and after school.  We park and walk him the block to/from school.  While waiting, Sterling and I have some pretty good conversations and she loves climbing into the front seat!

Sterling had open house night for her preschool last week.  Little man came home with a pocket full of play money.  I sent it to school with Sis on her first day.  Her teacher appreciated that, ha!

Sterling and I found an awesome library last week.  We became members and the kids are so excited that we can bring books home.  We didn't become members to the library in Nebraska because we had to pay $100/year and I couldn't see paying that.  Here it's free, so we're members!

We play at the park while Bubs is in school

On Friday last week was the day that Bubs was brave enough to conquer the halls of his elementary school without me {insert tears}.  My boy is growing so fast!

A lot of dressing up goes on

We are loving life on a cul de sec!

A little halloween project

Yesterday Bubs was having a rough morning and I was over it.  How in the world can a little 40 pound kid be so rude and disrespectful?!  I don't know what his problem is but he thinks he's boss all of a sudden and I'm over it.  He's going to live in his room for the next 13 years {kidding.  or not!}  Sterling and I went to grab a muffin after we dropped him off at school.

He woke up in a much better mood today and it started our day great.  His school is singing for 9-11 today and he was so excited!  He's proud to be an American!

And that my friends is our life lately!  I'm still trying to figure out a schedule during the day.  It's so hard with the kids in two different schools at two different times.  I'm doing awesome at waking up at 5, but I don't crawl out of bed until 545.  Hopefully soon I'll have it figured out!  There's just so much to do in a day.  I don't have enough arms or time in a day!

Have a great weekend!
