Ballet Parent Observation Video

So excited.  I was able to upload the videos to make one video. It's not the best quality, thanks to the trusty iPhone :(

Enjoy...

It was pretty awesome getting to see what they were working on because I missed the last one in November.  So proud of our girl.  And every time I watch her hop across the floor, I chuckle.  So adorable!

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day!

Lately

Happy Friday, friends!  A little late this week, but I've been swamped with homework, work, kids, the house...you get the idea.

We had the best weather last week!  The sun was shining and we had near 70 degrees for most of the week.  We were outside a lot!  First though, Xander has a new obsession with playing with Wii.

It's already time for bigger bikes, but I think we'll wait until next year.  I hate buying bikes!

After dinner and cleanup, we headed to Target to get Bubba a new helmet.  His was TIGHT!  With the impending warm weather, we decided to push bedtime back a bit, so we could get it and be ready for Friday's warm weather.  I tried really hard to convince him on a different helmet, but he needed this crazy looking one.  He's only little once, right?!

Our weekends start with dance after school and work.  It was a pretty special day, as the parents were able to go in and observe how our little ones were progressing.  Sterling has come a long way and I'm super proud of her.  There will be a separate post with videos.  So excited to share with you guys!

Sporting his new head gear!

I had some pretty excited kids when our neighbor came out to play with them.

On Saturday, the kids played outside for over two hours in the back yard while I worked on homework.  Xander raked leaves so they could jump in the pile, and he also decorated the tree with all of his rakes, shovels, and buckets.  Silly boy!

My favorite drawing of the week.  Xander drew a picture of his daddy pushing the lawn mower cutting the grass, with the sky above him.  Such a creative little guy.  I love his creative mind!

At work on Wednesdays I'm now going over to the big kid side with the two little babies I care for.  I get to see my favorite little guy and gal too.  They love when I go over.  I however, only like going over if they aren't in the room.  They never act right when I'm around.  Drives me crazy!

I'm going to work on getting the videos edited and uploaded from Sterling's ballet class.  They should be on the blog Monday morning.

I'm working on a Multi-Genre Paper(MGP) for school.  I'm pretty excited about it, but, it takes a lot of my time.  I'm going to either do my paper on the environments that support literacy or writer's workshops.  I'm leaning more towards environments, but need to do more research to see if I can gather enough info that I would need.

Today is my last day for working Friday's and I'm ecstatic!  I took it on in December to help out the boss, but it's just too much with this class and my crazy kids.  It was just too stressful and wasn't worth me feeling run down all the time.

We're still waiting to hear where we will be moving this summer.  This is the longest wait ever!  Nick keeps asking the assignment team when the release date will be.  I tell him he needs to stop asking because we're going to get stuck here (he's asked 4 times in the past 25 days!)...and that's NOT what we want!  Once you get on it, you never get off it (Offutt).  Let's hope this popular phrase here does not come true for us!!

That's it.  I'll just be working on my MGP assignment and hubs is working all weekend.  boo!

Have a great weekend!

The Sweetheart Run/Walk 5K

This year I have really decided to make it my year.  I'm a pro at putting my needs and happiness on the back burner and making sure everyone is happy and healthy.  Not this year.  I'll still make sure my family has everything they need, but I'm putting my health first.  If I have to make 4 different meals at dinner, I will.  I will make time for fitness.  I will run around with my beautiful children whom are eager.  I want to feel young.  I want to feel beautiful.  Many people judge and comment on others from their appearances.  Some people have bigger hearts even if they are overweight.  I'm one of those people.  In today's society, life is about appearances.  It shouldn't be.  You never know what someone has gone through, or is currently going through.  My mom always taught me, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it!  I wish some adults would have kinder hearts!

So with this year, I'm going to try eating better/smaller portions and exercising.  Yesterday marked one month of no caffeinated sodas.  I was slightly addicted, understatement!  I really should have been sent into rehab.  It was bad.  I loved Pepsi, Coke, Dr. Pepper, and Mt. Dew.  I'd drink way too many in a day.  I cut them out cold turkey, and had a rough rough two weeks. Now I can go into a store and not even think about wanting one.  But.  There's always a but, right?!  I still drink Sprite or Ginger Ale.  Hopefully I can kick that habit too!

In early January Nick sent me an email from work with a 5k run/walk event down in Kansas City. I said no way and that he was crazy.  Well he never gave up and a week later I said okay.  He registered all of us and we started preparing more seriously.  Well this 5k was this past weekend.  And you know what?! It was fun!  It was an eye opener.  And we're going to do it again next month!

We arrived at our hotel after dinner at The Blue Moose (Xander's favorite restaurant!) and the kids got their suits on and went swimming before bed.

While the kids swam, I dreamt I was at the beach with my toes in the sand

Saturday morning was the big day.  I was not excited, but I took my pain pills (because I've been having bad hip pain since running), got dressed and tried to pump myself up.  I look at the weather, and I was terrified!  It was only 16 degrees!  And felt like 3 degrees! Freezing!  So, we all dressed in lots of layers (5!) because we didn't pack winter gear.  You see, when I checked the forecast the night before, it said 30 degrees.  It didn't dawn on me that the 30 was in the afternoon, not the early morning!  Lesson learned.  Pack winter gear in the winter!

Part of our packet included the kids and I t-shirts.  Then Nick and I also received hats.

Waiting for the race to start...in the freezing cold!

Off we go.  The race was time chipped, so we didn't start right when the clock started. We started towards the back with the walkers because we had the stroller and didn't want to be running people over.  We are on the right, under the t in start.

We're done!  What an experience.  We ran most of it.  Every time I tried stopping, Nick kept going.  So, I'd start running again.  He was making me mad at times because he wasn't stopping.  Just keeping it real.
The time says 50:13 crossing, however, because of the time chip, our actual time was 43:29.

The official results.  I wouldn't say it's an awesome time, but I'm super proud that I did it and crossed the finish line.  I'll work on the time, but for now, I'm going to keep my happy self motivated.

After our race, it was the kids' turn.  They did a little 80 yard dash and were so excited about it.  Xander got second while Sterling placed third.  They did great. Xander says he would have gotten first place if he feet weren't frozen.  Mom fail!  Next race buddy, you got this!

Way to to guys!  We're so proud of you!

Truth be told, I think they only wanted the metals.  Xander wasn't satisfied at first because he wanted a real trophy.  He's a tough one to please.  We convinced him this was just as good and he wore it proudly.

Our final shots. What a fun experience.  Seriously.  I've said since 2 weeks before this new year that this was the year I would become a runner.  Maybe this was the push that I needed to get me motivated and serious?!

Did you know that I have the best husband ever?!  Really.  He pushes me just enough.  He encourages me.  He supports me.  He loves me.  All day Saturday and Sunday, he kept saying how proud he was of me and how we barely walked.  Over and over.  All day for two days.  I may have beamed so high I shone a new light.  J/K.  Or maybe not.

After the race, we headed back to the hotel to take warm showers and rest a bit. Afterwards,we headed to our favorite resatuarnt, On the Border.  So good!

Here Nick is writing Sterling's name and she had her eyes closed and had to tell him which letters he was writing.

The best part of hotels in Xander's eyes are the couches that pull out into beds.  Good thing he's only 35 pounds!

And Sterling gets to act like a monster

I'm excited for our next race.  Yesterday I finished week 6 day 1 on C25K (couch to 5k), and my shins were killing me.  I pushed through and have been stretching like a maniac.  I'm excited for the next 10 day weather forecast.  Lots of warm weather to run on the trails. Lots of good practice, and I'm excited!

If you don't think you can do it (like I thought), go do it.  I'm pretty sure you'll prove yourself wrong.

Have a great day!

Life Lately

Why is life so busy?!  Why must there be so much to do in one day that I can never do everything I set out to do?  I seem to only get updates on here every two weeks, which I hate!  I'm sure the kids' grandparents (especially) would like to see pictures more often than that.
I'm going to try again to do at least weekly updates.  This past weekend we went and completed a 5K together and it kind of changed my life and mindset.  I'll talk more about that tomorrow though.

Back on January 23rd Sterling received the best mail ever (according to her).  She was invited to one of her friends' birthday parties. The party wasn't for 3 weeks, but she talked and asked about it every day until then.  Oy!

On January 24th, we headed to the trails so I could practice running.  Sterling (both kids really) hates sitting in the stroller, so she fell asleep.  I think she hates sitting in the stroller because 90% of the time, this happens. And that does not excite her.

On January 27th the kids played Don't Break the Ice at school, so we brought the game home to play. Gotta love the perks to working though.

On January 28th, the kids and I headed to the park after school.  It was a sunny day, but I still froze my hands.  Sometimes the sun does not always mean it will be warm.  Lesson learned.

On January 30th, I received this note in the mail.  I'm pretty sure I won't be getting one from this semester, although I am trying!  I found this message and found it perfectly fitting for my situation.  Nick complains that it's taking me forever to finish because I could have been finished by now, but I enjoy taking one class at a time, and also these last classes are all prerequisites of each other, so I can't take more than one class each semester.  So, it worked in my favor and he hates it!

We started February with a winter storm.  On February 2nd Winter Storm Kayla brought us twelve or more inches of snow.  We did a lot of shoveling the first week.  The kids also had two snow days from school.  Which I loved!
Nick still had to drive into work each day. Gotta love the military and their "mission essential personnel" rules.

After shoveling, I'd let the kids ride their bikes.  The rode for almost an hour!  It was a fun break out of the house.

In preparation for the upcoming storm, we headed to the store the day before and bought a new game.  Monopoly Junior was a hit!  It was funny watching how each kid played. Sterling didn't want to spend any of her money to buy property, but Xander wanted to buy everything.  Let's hope Xander will be a little more frugal in the future!
Because we did so much shoveling on the 2nd, we didn't have time to pull this out. But, on the 3rd, we had plenty of time.

We also baked Valentine cookies on the 3rd.  We spent our last snow day as a fun day.

On February 7th, Sterling's favorite day arrived.  Her friends party.

I didn't snap any pictures at the party, but plenty of others did :)

On February 8th we had haircuts and ice lessons. One lesson left, I can't wait to be done!

For dinner on the 9th, we made heart shaped pizzas for the kids. The kids who also hate pizza!  Why must my kids hate pizza?!  Drives me crazy because Nick and I love it.  So, I thought making a fun shape out them, they might actually eat them. Nope :(

On the 10th, Xander's class had their Valentines party.  I didn't go to this one, but he said he had so much fun.

Xander and his friend made the most adorable cards ever.  These two boys are thoughtful and take time to be creative.  Love it!

The next day, the 11th, Sterling had her party.  Her friends awesome mom snapped me some pictures because I didn't go to her party either.

That's all for now.  Tomorrow I'll post about this past weekend.
