Homeschool, week one

Good morning!  We survived our first week of school and sailed right back into it this week.  Our days so far have not been easy, but they have been fun.  I've learned that one child needs extra help in subtraction, while the other is a pleaser.  Both are getting glasses.  Both are loving school.  And we're all loving having a schedule.  We start school at 9, take an hour lunch/cleanup break, and are finished with school around 2:30.

During break time, they've been creative on the geoboards.

They've both earned their "great work" cones.  These little cones have been the biggest motivation.

We created homes.  Xander's has a tree house, trampoline, and people

Sterling wanted her house to have a road, apple tree, bushes, and people.

We struggled with subtraction, but will slowly get things figured out.

We conquered common and proper nouns

I'm loving using the Apple TV as an aid in teaching.  It's working out great!

We even have show and tell.

Playing a new game to help with math problems

While we're still figuring things out, we can still have fun learning.  I'm glad we have this opportunity to do school together.  I enjoy seeing their strengths and weaknesses.  It's awesome to see them each pick up on things differently.  Or one grasping a subject and explaining it to the other.  It's the sweetest thing.  They each have their own levels, but I can incorporate them together in some cases.  That's been nice too.

Have a great day!
