Alexander's first day was a success. There was no crying. He walked right in. Unloaded his bag. Sat down and began coloring. Great first day!
A few pictures of his day.
I actually had to order him a bigger backpack. We have the small backpack from Pottery Barn Kids (which would be perfect if they used a single regular folder!), however, his school is using 3-ring binders as parent/teacher conversations. Ridiculous. But, very well organized inside. So, we ordered the large backpack because shoving the binder in the small backpack is pushing it's limits and won't last long.
Little sister wanted a photo too :)
These two. I love them!
I wanted a picture with them too :)
We walked to school. The traffic was crazy so I was thankful that we live close enough to walk!
He found his spot and that was our que to leave him there for the day.
While he was at school, the girls had a shopping day. Oh my, how it was so much easier and less stressful not having Xander in tow.
I was so excited to pick up my boy. I got my pass to wait in the hall and I wanted to run down and give him a big hug when I saw his scared little face. But waited.
He couldn't tell me anything about his day.
Me: What did you do today?
Xander: Nothing
Me: Did you do anything fun?
Xander: We didn't do anything fun
Me: Did your teacher say anything today?
Xander: No
I'm sure I'll hear all about his day in a few days. For some reason, he's always talked about things a few days after it happens. And when he does, he goes all out.
While Sterling and I were shopping, she picked out a stuffed animal for him. A little husky dog that he's been wanting since July 30th (he saw it on our drive moving here). He loved it. Of course. He loves all things cuddly.
Around 6pm, he was tired. Beyond tired. Exhausted. It was meltdown mode over everything. I had to remind myself that this was a big change for him so I gave him extra snuggles and tried to remain calm. Hopefully it will get better once he gets used to a full day of learning.
A great start to the new school year!
Have a great day!
