Now & Then Happenings

My dad will be coming back up to the region soon so we'll make a trip up to see him too.  He gave us quite the scare a few weeks ago so I'm excited to go see him and give him a real big hug!  The kids miss him too, and talk about him so much.

This semester of school is almost over for me, just 2 weeks left.  I have three major projects to finish up and one exam.  I project will be done this weekend, thank goodness!  My exam will be done on Tuesday.  Another project will be done on Wednesday and the other project is done on the 12th (kids are done on the 16th).  I'm most worried about the last project.  It's a project in my seminar in operations management class on General Motors.  We've been working on this General Motors assignment for the past 6 weeks and now we have to bring it all together.  Sounds easy?  It should be, but it won't be.  My team is a nervous wreck because the instructor is not the easiest instructor to compete work for.  He's very particular but does not set clear expectations.  It's a guessing game during the whole project.  I finally gathered my balls and called him yesterday.  I'm glad I did because I do have a better understanding for it now and can lead my team properly.  We're hoping to get above a 90%.
When the semester is done, I'll be done with this program.  Not graduating, just switching.  I'm not happy in it and it's stressing me out more than anything so I had to make the call.  I've taken 6 classes in this program and it was all for nothing because I'll be switching to Early Childhood Development.  I think I'll enjoy this program much, much more!

The kids will only be in Parents Day Out (PDO) once a week for the month of July.  Since I'm not in classes, I couldn't see sending them all summer.  I'm glad they will only have 2 months off.  I'm excited to do some projects like we used to when we lived in Germany.  Why was life so much calmer living in Germany?  It's so crazy here!  I feel like we have no time for anything fun!

This weekend in the midst of working on projects, we'll be putting together the kids' new backyard playground.  We decided that since we will be here for 2 more years, at least, we might as well let the kids enjoy the backyard.  That shall be a fun project.  I'm a perfectionist when assembling things and Nick would rather 'just get it done'.  So, it's always difficult working on things when it requires assembly by both of us.

My 7 year old niece will be coming and staying the summer with us.  We are beyond excited to have her for the summer and she'll be with us during our summer trips.  So excited!

We have a pretty fun summer planned.  We're hoping to get two big trips during our summer, one to Disney World and the other to Washington D.C.  We've already bought our tickets to FL, but still waiting for a great price on the D.C. tickets.  While in FL we'll also be able to watch hubs walk the line during his graduate commencement.  We're so proud of him and all of his accomplishments!

It's going to be a fun summer!  What's better than the great outdoors, tank tops, flip flops and water parks?!
