The Antelope in the Living Room by Melanie Shankle.
I finally committed time to finish this book. It’s a great book and I always hated putting it down. By the time I’d get a silver of a chance to read it, my eyes were burning and falling asleep. So I’d put it down, hoping to pick it up sooner than the last time. With all my school work and readings, the kids, and just being tired at the end of the day, I just put it down and didn’t pick it back up for a long time.
I loved the book. I could relate on so many levels so I enjoyed reading her experiences and see where maybe I could try to change a few things in my marriage. There were so many laugh out loud moments. Tears of laughter were rolling. She was hilarious. Inspiring. And real.
I want to read her newest book, Nobody’s Cuter Than You, but it’s going to wait because I have three new books I want to get started.
I also read Play and Child Development by Joe L. Frost, Sue C. Wortham, and Stuart Reifel(for school, ha!)
Carb Cycling by Jesse Morgan (healthy recipes and tips); 30 Simple Habits to Lose Weight Look Great and Feel Healthy by Chris Powell (tips, some I already knew, but a bunch that were informative); Choose More, Lose More for Life by Chris Powell (this one was my favorite and I still reference it each week). I read these three books because I needed more information on tips to getting healthy and motivation to get started.
Plus lots of kids books…I should list those too, maybe next month!
August reads will (hopefully) be…
The Rumor by Elin Hilderbrand is first up. I’ve heard so many great things about her books that it motivated me to finish Melanie’s book first.
Then on Amazon Prime, you get to select a Kindle First book to read before the books hit the shelves. I chose about that fling by Tawna Fenske this month. Tawna’s books get great reviews, so it was a must to add to my list.
Finally, I purchased Island Girls by Nancy Thayer for only $5.98 last month because it looked like something I might enjoy reading. After getting home and checking the reviews, I’m glad I purchased it.
August is a pretty low key month and our family trip is planned also, so I’m hoping to get The Rumor and about that fling read. I’m shooting big since I’m a slow reader and get busy with life, but I want to unwind with great books this month.
What’s on your reading list? Do you prefer hardcopies or a reading device?
Have a great day!
