Friday Favorites

Linking up with Andrea, Erika, and Narci for Friday Favorites.

A few of Xander’s favorites

We always love going to our library and especially when they have our favorite story time.  All about fire trucks, men, and safety.  Xander loved it, but Sterling just wanted to read books and play.

First up the nice fireman read two stories, put his gear on and gave the kids high-fives!

Then we headed to visit the inside of the fire truck and ambulance.

After visiting the trucks, we headed inside to play games.  Xander first choose to get a Hero tattoo and then played toss the bean bag game.  He was so fascinated at the cups falling down.  It’s the little things people.

After that he headed to the back of the library and Sterling found some friends from school and played in the house.  Xander spied a bowling game and waited so patiently to have a turn.  He loved it.

We then headed into the arts room and did some paper crafts.  We then headed back up front and played a round of golf.  Do not buy this game.  It’s fun, sure, but it’s a pain in the booty!

Another favorite activity of Xander’s is painting.  He thought all day of what he wanted to paint.  When it was time, he concentrated so hard and created a silly fish.  I tried convincing him it was a butterfly, but he assured me it’s a silly fish.

Playing soccer has quickly become a weekly favorite. Even when the temps are a sweltering nearly 100 degrees! Go Leopards! Look at his sweet picture…and the seriousness in the group picture.  Love this sweet boy!

Life Lately

I don’t even know where to begin. It’s been way too long since I last posted.  This summer has been flying by and I feel we haven’t had much downtime to just enjoy it.  It’s just going to get crazier in a few weeks as we go on another vacation.  I’m tired of trips already, but at the same time I’m trying to take advantage of seeing my family as much as possible before our expected move next summer.  The day after we get back from vacation, we have a bunch of family coming into town to go to our local zoo.  That should be a fun weekend too!  After that, we should be trip free for a few months and I’m looking forward to it.

Wednesday is our morning to be slow at getting out the door since the kids are not in school.  We ran errands and Sterling and I had a dress up tea party.  I was told I didn’t need to put on a dress but I had to wear her sunglasses.  Sterling also had her last night of ballet for the summer.  I’m signing her up for the year program at the academy because she loved it so much.

On Thursday the kids have school and then we have 45 minutes of soccer in the evening. It’s been really hot here, high 90s, and so soccer was a hot one.  Nick stayed home because he can’t bear the heat.  There were only 4 teammates that showed up for this practice/game so they played the whole time and took water breaks. A lot.  Sterling ran around and kicked a spare ball.  I think we’ll sign her up next year if her interest is still high.

On Friday we stayed busy by going to a ballerina story time at the library and then hit up the new splash pad in our area and enjoyed a picnic before playing.  The kids loved it after they warmed up to it.  This was our first trip to any splash pad this year.  Sad.  Just sad.  We’re actually heading back tomorrow.

On Saturday we drove up to MN (3 hours from us) to visit with family again because my parents came into the area to visit my dad’s mom.  It was fun and another hot day out.  We drove back that night so I could finish up homework.  Xander and Nick played kick ball and Xander thought it was awesome that daddy was playing with him with his hurt back.  Haha!

I’m still plugging away at school this summer.  Only two weeks left!  I have a six page paper and five peer reviews due this Friday afternoon.  Then next week I’ll have 4 questions to answer from my instructor (due on 4th), 5 peer reviews, and a 10 page paper all due on Aug 5th.  Then I’m done for the summer.  I can do this!  Although I’d much rather be doing everything else!

Have a great day!

Daddy-Daughter Princess Night

What a fun event the ballpark hosted last night.  We decided to go as a family because Xander loves seeing beautiful princesses just as much as Sterling.  We arrived early to pick up our tickets and walk across the ball field with the princesses. Upon entering, we ran into our first princess

Xander noticed all the team mascots floating around so he was on a mission all night to meet each one…firstup, the one that hurt his hand because the guy didn’t realize Xander was still holding his hand while he was walking away.  Oh Xander, just never let go!

0196a2ee27e48a5abaeeb58be604988bda3f68465f

With the princess package came the fun zone wristband, so we purchased Xander one and rode the carousel and jumped in the bounce house

Watching the game

And eating cotton candy…which nobody liked, ha!  Now we know.

The guy was a tough one to chase down!  He walked the upper box and we chased him to the end and he came down and Xander jumped him.  There was one more guy, the “blue guy,” that we couldn’t hunt down before we left.  He was very disappointed, maybe next time.

As we were waiting for the carousel a second time, we spotted a rainbow.

And leaving, oh the joys of leaving.  We didn’t get to see Elsa up close because she wasn’t roaming around, so a little someone was very upset.

In the end, it was a fun experience for the kids.  They’re going to write Elsa a letter and ask her why she didn’t have time to take a picture with them.  Oh, and the “blue guy” is getting a letter too.  These kiddos sure know what they want and don’t let go easily.

Have a great day!

Friday Favorites

It’s been awhile since I’ve linked up with Andrea, Erika, and Narci for Friday Favorites, but there’s no better time than today.  Here are some of my favorites over the past week.

Land of the Free.  Home of the Brave.  Proud to be an American!  On this 4th, I’m taking the kiddos and we’re heading up to MN to my cousin’s to spend the day/night with most of my relatives.  I don’t think any of my siblings will be there, but it will be an amazing day celebrating America!  I’ll share some favorites next week on this fun day!

My favorite day of the week is Wednesday.  I just love watching Sterling dance.  She loves it and she beams as she follows her teachers movements.

We’ve had some pretty nice weather lately to be outside.  With temps in the mid 80s, we’re trying to step up our steps and headed out to our favorite trail a few times this week.

and riding bikes is their favorite any day!

I’ve been wearing a new favorite fitness accessory and I love watching my heart rate change and the calories go up!  Watch is the Polar FT7.

Last year I bought a fitbit One and in May it stopped working.  I contacted their support and luckily I was able to find my receipt because they were able sent me a new one…free!  Their customer service is on point and quick!  I was so happy to have this back so I can have intentional walks to see my steps go up, up, and UP!  My favorite part of this device is the steps, distance, and floors! The more they go up, the more my smile goes up, hehe!

This girl cracks me up. She likes to go in her room and close her door.  Usually she comes out with different cloths on (she changes at least 3 times a day!).  On this day she came out with a few accessories with her outfit change and chicken dance.  She’s been a favorite to sit back and observe, that’s for sure!

Have a safe and fun 4th!
