Zoo day

As I mentioned in the previous post, we went to the zoo one day.  We have an annual pass so a free activity is always fun to do.  All Xander wanted to see was the gorillas, and boy did he get to see one, even 'held hands' with one.

Xander loved the overhead tank, watching all the sharks and turtles pass over his head.

We watched a tank get cleaned

Take hold my friends...

Possibly the best part was the sprinklers?!

The gorilla was eating and the monkey was trying to steal his food.  Pretty fun to watch them "play"

Where do you size up...

Love at first touch...

This is what Sterling thought of all the gorilla madness

We went to lunch at Red Robin, came home took naps and then headed outback to play in the sprinkler.

The next day we set up the pool and stayed home

We're having a fun summer!  The kids and I are gearing up for another trip.  We're going to visit cousins!  What's better than warm sun, water, and cousins?  Nothing!  I loved being with my cousins growing up and now my kids get to also.  Love being close to family!

Daily Happenings

I left off we us getting back from Florida, which was June 11th.
The 12th was considered an errands day, of course.
The 13th I caught up with all 8 loads of laundry and that was pretty much the extent of our day.  Kids played around the house and outside.

June 14th:  Xander had his first t-ball game.  He was excited, as were we!  He did very well considering it was his very first time.

Parents are encouraged to go out with their child to help them get familiar...so Nick was his partner

practicing catching grounders (no that is not me, remember, I have the camera :))

He hits and runs!  He's a fast runner!

While bubba played, Sissy played too (having a dance party, by herself)

June 15th:  Father's Day.  A rather low key day.  We went out to practice more t-ball in the morning then headed home to make our craft for daddy.

Jayla made one for her daddy too, but was done in 5.132 seconds!

They turned out so much cuter than I thought possible

After dinner we headed to the lake to do our run/walk.  It was a beautiful evening.

June 16th:   Kids and I headed to the gym in the AM.  It was a stormy day which made for a perfect Bingo night.  Even Spidey played, ha!

June 17th:  We went to the zoo.  I'll make a separate post for this :)

June 18th:  About 2 weeks before our vacation this girl started sleeping in our bed.  We don't know how or why it started but she screams bloody murder if we try to put her in her bed and demands "mommy's bed".  I don't know what to do with her.  With Xander being the light sleeper that he is, we can't let her cry it out.  So she falls asleep in our bed then I move her to her bed.  Well this past week, she's gotten up every night between 3 and 4 screaming 'mommy's bed'.  Waking up Xander every night.   Then he has a hard time going back to bed.  Nick and I were joking about bringing her bed into our room and putting her in the closet.  Is it a joke?  It sounds good to me!  But will it work?  At this point, I'm ready to try, ha!

June 19th:  No pics.  Went to our outdoor shopping mall to play at the splash pad.  I made the kids play in their clothes.  At first they were apprehensive, but soon warmed up and enjoyed themselves as if they had suits on.

June 20th:  We went to the Y and went swimming.  This boy has made leaps and bounds.  He's now swimming by himself!  This is huge people.  I never thought we'd get to this point.  He loves it.

June 21st:  Xander was supposed to have a game in the AM, but with the storm the night before the fields were flooded out.  I took him to the Y in the morning to get his pictures taken for his team.  I'm excited to see how they turned out.  The photography had Xander call him 'smelly cheese' and Xander thought that was the coolest thing ever!
We went camping and I created a way to distract the kids while Nick hauled all of our blankets and pillows to our campsite.  They didn't know what was going on, so on to counting the Tupperware.  Oh what fun!  Ha!

Kids loved it.  Xander kept saying 'Mom, this is like our house, I love it'.  We camped in the basement, which was a good idea since it started storming that night.  Hopefully our next campsite will be outside.  It was fun though, inside and all.

June 22nd:  Hubs went to shoot.  Something fun for him to do.

She's a mess.  She requests a 'bow' every night and this night she was so relaxed before snoozing off

Jun 23rd:  Kids and I walked to the lake.  It was a nice morning for a walk and not too many people crowding the trail.  Sterling is in the phase where she picks out her outfits.  I had this top hanging in the laundry room so I could steam it, but she couldn't find it in her closet and saw it hanging in the laundry room and demanded to wear it.  Okay, she's a kid and can be wrinkled.  She looked so grown up in it!

Lately on our walks, she's been holding Bubba's knee.  It's precious!  Oh, and she still loves to pick out her shoes.  It's become a battle and on this day, I didn't care that she didn't match and I lost the battle.

I ordered this adorable top from @blessournest and we LOVE it!  I can't wait until the next hot hot day to wear it.  The back is open and is so adorable.  Love Love Love it!

We have about 2 or 3 days a week were our weather is nice enough to play in the water.  The other days are stormy and Jayla wonders if it's ever going to stop storming?!  I don't know girl, but I hope so!

Until next time...

FL days 5, 6, & 7

Best days ever.  We slept in Monday morning then headed to Animal Kingdom for the day.  The kids are still talking about it, it was that much fun!  It may have been another hot day, but because the place seemed more shaded, it was a perfect day.
Tuesday we spent it at the beach.  Wednesday we headed home.

We of course couldn't leave without a group photo

We enjoyed the free tram ride up to the gate.  Because I had to pee and didn't want to walk the mile :)  This picture cracks me up because we hadn't even started our day and they both look so exhausted and hot.  Gotta love the little's!

We took the safari ride and was that awesome!

The rhino's kept walking in front of our jungle bus.  They are so huge!

Amazed by the monkeys playing

It wouldn't be right not to visit Mickey and Minnie, would it?  Sterling was freaking out...

So Minnie moved and all was better

Walk and meet, Xander loved seeing random characters walk around and he'd run up and give them high 5s.  Sterling wanted nothing to do with them.  Of course.

Tree of Life

The day before we headed back home we spent it at the beach of course.  We stayed there for 4 hours, hunting for shells, encouraging Xander to go in the water, making sand castles, and just enjoying the sounds of the ocean (or maybe that was just me?)  After the beach we got ready and had lunch at 3 pm.  Life on vacation.  Seems like no one gets hungry around the "normal" lunch hour.  We then headed to Target to get a few things because we decided not to do laundry and just buy a few things to make it home clean, ha!  After Target we headed to our last visit with Opa.

I really enjoyed watching the dolphins from our patio

Sand castles (or piles, ha!)

5 days of encouraging finally paid off...he loved it and didn't want to leave when it was finally time to leave

Little gym in the airport before heading out

This girl.  Oh this girl!  Why must she always get sick on airplanes?  Such a mess and so NOT my favorite thing to hold in my hands.  I was semi prepaid on this episode because I saw the signs start, but I still had to catch some in my hand because she was not enjoying the vomit bag.  This flight attendant was awesome and once we touched down, she ran back and handed me a large bag, wipes, and more vomit bags.

Girl meets friend at last

We had such a fun vacation.  We're already planning our next one this winter.  Not to Disney, but to Charlotte, NC.  Fun!  Our next Disney adventure will be next year with some very special guests.
